Defending champs BaSC Basketball upsets host crowd favorites Surigao Del Sur State University 6:00pm (Surigao time). The Defending Champions Basilan State College Basketball team up againts host team SDSSU. In front of a massive crowd that filled Tandag City Gym, the game started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Fans came to see who among the two undefeated teams 0 (loss) has got to go! It was BaSC who dominates all through out the game. It all comes after Wendel Mapula made an 8-0 run himself after tip-off. The hosts tried to close out the game, 23-24 at the end of first quarter, bringing the crowd to erupt. Since then, BaSC did not give even an inch closer, as Mapula continiously shoots beyond the arc, and Ferrer and Diaz connecting from inside. Even though drowned by the boos, cheers from several BaSC delegate echoes inside the gym, supporting the team. Few minutes before the end, fans of SDSSU starts to go home as the score is already a blowout. The game ends, 66-93 in favor of the defending champs. BaSC advances to Quarter Finals, keeping hopes of defending the crown still alive.
