In a 2-hour event, the Accreditation Survey Visit Opening Program was held on December 6, 2016 at the BaSC amphitheater. Faculty members, staffs and students gathered together to welcome the 13 Accreditors of the Accreditation Agency of Charted Collegs and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP). In this accreditation, 5 programs are hoping to be accredited for level 1. The programs are the following: 1) Graduate Studies: a) Doctorates Degree in Education b) Masters of Education c) Masters of Public Administration. 2) Bachelor of Science in Criminology 3) Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Diatetics. A message was given by the BaSC President, Hji. Nasser A. Salain Ed. D. wherein he quoted, "A candle doesn't loose anything when it lights another candle." Accordingly, this only means that the AACCUP Leaders are willing to help to the very extent of their capacity to make Basilan State College grow into an institution which is ready for the challenges of even the global community. After the inspiring message, Dr. Sarah S. Taupan, AACCUP Overall Coordinator introduced the Accrediting Team as well as their functions and assigned areas to be evaluated. Consequently, the BaSC Accreditation Director, Prof. Maribel Doyungan, spearheaded the presentation of the Task Force for the 5 programs. Displaying the rich culture of the Basilan Province, a Yakan Ethnic dance was performed by the BaSC Dance Troup in their authentic Yakan attires. To close the ceremony, a representative of the college band sang the BaSC Hymn. It was followed by sessions of assesment, evalutation of documents and interviews of the Task Force.
